Silicone Bibs

Role: Graphic Designer

Tool used: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

YNUX Limited tasked me with the design of several patterns that would be released as part of the second collection of silicone bibs for their Nightingale brand. The final three patterns selected were: penguins, flying birds, and a floral print. These were released along with two solid color options.

Designing my first silicone bib patterns was an interesting challenge. Their irregular shape meant I had to get creative with sizing and spacing to ensure the designs looked great on each bib.

I brought these adorable baby emperor penguins to life on the bibs, showing them in different playful poses. To give the illustrations a bit of texture, I used a grainy brush for the shading.

The bird print featured delicate silhouettes of birds in flight, creating a subtle yet dynamic look. The irregular spacing added a playful touch and prevented the vector illustrations from feeling too rigid.

I started by sketching the cosmos print elements with pencil and watercolor, then digitized them for the final pattern. Digitizing the delicate white petals and pencil textures was tricky, but the final print on the bibs captured their charm.

This project was a great learning experience, teaching me a lot about surface pattern design and file preparation for printed products. I'm thrilled that my patterns helped create a cohesive second collection for Nightingale and that they've been loved by customers and their kids!
